A garage cleanout is easier when you know what stays, what goes, and what needs special handling. Use this checklist before your pickup.
1. Sort your belongings
Create separate areas for items you want to keep, donate, sell, recycle, or remove. Check boxes, drawers, and cabinets for important documents, tools, and valuables before they are hauled away.
2. Identify everything you want removed
Typical garage cleanout items include old furniture, shelves, exercise equipment, broken tools, and general clutter. Keep items you want to save away from the removal pile or mark them clearly.
3. Set aside paint and chemicals
Do not mix unknown liquids, pesticides, fuel, paint, batteries, or other potentially hazardous materials into the junk pile. Tell us about these items before booking; they may require separate handling or may not be accepted. Summit County ReWorks provides information about its facility in Stow.
4. Take photos for your estimate
Take clear photos showing the full pile and any large or heavy items. Let us know whether the garage is accessible from the driveway and whether anything is especially heavy or difficult to move.
5. Clear a safe path
If possible, move vehicles and clear the path to the items. You do not need to carry heavy furniture outside yourself. Let us know where it is so we can include access and labor in your quote.
