Quick Haul planning guide
Akron bulk pickup or full-service junk removal?
A practical guide to city collection, carrying help and choosing the right option for your Akron pickup.
Choose the service that fits the job.
If you have one eligible bulky item and can safely prepare it for curbside collection, check Akron’s service first. If you need items carried out of a home, a cleanout planned around access, or an available pickup appointment, a private removal quote can help you compare options.
This guide is for Akron residents. Nearby cities have separate programs. Quick Haul is an independent business, not part of the City of Akron.
What Akron’s official guidance says
The city serves freestanding one-, two- and three-family homes. Its FAQ lists furniture, mattresses, couches, televisions and other named bulky items for collection on the normal weekly day without a special appointment, placed at least three feet from the cart.
For a large accumulation of bags, boxes or cleanout trash, request a Special Bulk Volume Pickup. The city allows three per home each year and requires booking at least one working day before collection. Set material out no earlier than 4:30 PM the preceding day. Call 330-375-2311 or 3-1-1 to check eligibility and arrangements.
Read the City of Akron trash and recycling guidance before setting anything out. Confirm unusual items, preparation requirements and holiday changes directly with the city. Rules checked October 24, 2026.
City collection or Quick Haul?
| Your situation | A useful next step |
|---|---|
| You can prepare an eligible item for your city collection day. | Confirm the city’s current requirements first. |
| You need furniture carried from a basement, upstairs room or garage. | Request a quote that includes the access and carrying work. |
| You have a whole room or several separate piles to clear. | Photograph every area and compare the complete job scope. |
| You need a specific appointment or urgent pickup. | Ask Quick Haul about available route space before making plans. |
| You have heavy, attached or unusual materials. | Confirm acceptance and handling before moving or combining them. |
Check renovation waste and chemicals separately.
Akron lists construction and demolition materials, roofing, concrete, dirt and hazardous waste among materials excluded from its carts. Do not assume those materials belong in a normal household pile; ask the city about the specific material and disposal route.
Quick Haul’s construction debris service handles approved, non-hazardous material by agreement. Send photos and identify the material, approximate amount and loading access. Paint, chemicals, fuel, propane tanks, concrete, dirt and other special items need an acceptance review. A private quote does not mean every material can be accepted.
Use our accepted-items and advance-approval guide to prepare the request. Keep unknown liquids or chemicals separate and identify them before booking.
When full-service pickup helps
You may want help with the carrying even when an item has another disposal option. Our crew can collect approved items from homes, garages, basements and other agreed locations. You do not have to carry a heavy piece to the curb just to request an estimate.
For an Akron cleanout, include wide photos of every area, the stairs or doorway, the route to the truck and any parking restrictions. We confirm the items, price and appointment before loading. Quick Haul has a $75 minimum; learn how quotes and load sizes work.
Three questions to answer before you book
- What needs to go? List the complete job, including appliances, mattresses and separate outdoor piles.
- Where is it now? Describe the floor, stairs, doors and carrying route. Keep heavy items in place for the estimate.
- When do you need the space clear? Give your preferred date, and wait for an appointment confirmation. Same-day service depends on availability.
